About me

Hello. My name is Damian Williamson. I am an EPC and DEC Assessor with over 8 years and over 3,000 EPC and DEC surveys of experience. I live in sunny Portsmouth (well, it’s sunny as I write this anyway….) but work all across Southern England carrying out EPC and DEC assessments for private indviduals, small/medium retail enterprises, property management companies, local authorities, restaurant chains, and much more.

I was born in Ormskirk, Lancashire, near Liverpool but have lived in Portsmouth ever since 1992, which the exception of a 2-and-a-half-year stint in Madrid.

So how did I end up as an Energy Assessor?

Well I seemed destined to find myself working in the energy sector. I moved to Madrid, Spain in 2007 and my first job was working as a translator for an IT services company that had Spain’s largest energy company as their major client. I left there after a few months and then worked in the accounts department of small Madrid-based renewables company.

“Hold on. What’s this got to do with EPCs and DECs?”….. I hear you all cry.

Well I moved back to Portsmouth in 2010 and as fate had it, I started working for the energy team at my local authority. I spent over 9 years there in which amongst various other tasks, I trained to become the Council’s lead in-house assessor. I left the Council in August 2019 with the experience, tools and a client base to take the plunge and ‘go solo’.

I love doing what I do. The job takes me on some fascinating places, some which I didn’t know existed and a whole load of interesting buildings. It is this what gives me the motivation to be the best I can at my job and provide a quality and effective service to you.

No matter how big or small the job, I will aim to complete your EPC or DEC assessment within your requirements.

Qualifications

I have a B.A. (Hons) Business Administration from the University of Portsmouth (2005) and am qualified to carry out your assessment under the following qualifications: -

DesignBuilder Certificate of Competence on Dynamic Simulation Modelling software for Level 5 EPCs

City of Guilds Level 4 Diploma in Non-Domestic Energy Assessments

City of Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Domestic Energy Assessments

City of Guilds Level 3 Produce Display Energy Certificates for Non-Domestic Buildings
